PubCon Boston Recap

new BOTW friendsAs always, the fine folks at WebmasterWorld put together a fantastic conference (special thanks to Jeff Garland who always goes above and beyond). PubCon Boston proved to be a bit smaller than previous shows, but the smaller crowds allowed for more time with each attendee, and a bit more intimacy amongst the entire group.

The sessions were packed with information. I am amazed at how much I still learn going to each conference. So much is shared during the sessions, and even more can be gleaned from the crowds once they loosen up (the conversation really flows at the bar). I was fortunate enough to speak on the blogging panel, and learned a lot from the experience – thanks to both Matt Cutts, and Jeremy Zawodny for hopping up on the panel at the end to help with some Q&A. Anne Kennedy did a great job of moderating, and her quick thinking helped to fill a gap in the time.

We uploaded some pictures of the show to Flickr, and others have tagged some of their pictures as well. If you have a Flickr account, send up your pictures, and make sure to tag them “PubCon” – that way the whole world will be able to enjoy. Check out all the pictures currently tagged PubCon.

We look forward to seeing everybody again at future conferences. I am sure that we will see some of the same faces in November, when PubCon does the annual Vegas extravaganza. Additionally, we will be exhibiting at SES in San Jose come August. Hope to see you there…

BOTW Lunchroom Dance Off

In a battle between the generations, Jared and I had a dance-off in the lunch cafeteria today. It was old school hip hop vs. the techno crowd.

I was running my jaw about how we used to do it back in the 80′s. Run DMC this, and Ice Cube that. Jared started talking about Eminem and Kanye West. Before we knew it, the battle was on.

Who was victorious?

Too late for an April Fools??

PubCon Update

wmw speakerNow that we are only a couple of weeks away from Boston PubCon, the time seems right for an update.

We are exhibiting again, and as exhibitors have a few discounts to hand out to attendees. For the 10% off discount, use the promotional code: bw-25010. There are plenty to go around of the 10% discount, but we also have a limited number of passes at a 25% discount. So try this code first: bw-51625 to see if you can get the 25% off full conference passes. If not, try the 10% code.

Additionally, I am pleased to announce that I will be speaking on the Blogging, Pod Casting and RSS Feeds panel, Tuesday at 1:45 in Salon C. Originally, Brian had been slotted to speak, but due to some complications, was unable to commit. Brett was kind enough to permit me to step in and try to fill Brian’s shoes.

I am joined by some of the brightest people the industry has to offer: Amanda Watlington, Daron Babin, and Ethan Fassett. It’s been awhile since I have done any public speaking, and this will mark my first presentation before the SEM community. I’ll try to do my best, but will walk away content simply keeping my lunch down.

If there is anything in particular that you think would make for good banter, please feel free to provide some suggestions here. I’d love to know what people would find most useful about blogging – help me do my homework, and let me know what you want to hear about.

So, if you are going to be at PubCon later this month, make sure to stop by our booth. And if you are so inclined, come by to hear me speak. Looking forward to seeing you there.
